Replacingthebattery

Thissectionprovidesinstructionsonhowtoreplacethebattery.

Yourserverhasaspecialtypeofmemorythatmaintainsthedate,time,andsettingsforbuilt-infeatures,

suchasparallel-portassignments(conguration).Abatterykeepsthisinformationactivewhenyouturnoff

theserver.

Thebatterynormallyrequiresnochargingormaintenancethroughoutitslife;however,nobatterylasts

forever.Ifthebatteryfails,thedate,time,andcongurationinformation(includingpasswords)arelost.An

errormessageisdisplayedwhenyouturnontheserver.

Toreplacethebattery,dothefollowing:

1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall

powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.

2.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage30.

3.Locatethebattery.See“System-boardinternalconnectors”onpage25.

4.Removeanypartsthatmaypreventyouraccesstothebattery.

5.Removetheoldbattery.
